Reddit DM automation that starts from what the buyer wrote
Rankcow drafts a direct message from the exact post a person wrote, so the message refers to their situation rather than a template. When a DM is the right move
A direct message works on Reddit when the person has already opened the door. Rankcow drafts a DM in three situations.
- The poster asked for recommendations and a public reply would not fit the detail they need.
- The poster invited direct messages, for example by writing "DM me if you have something".
- The poster described a problem your product solves and asked how other people handle it.
Rankcow does not draft cold messages to people who did not ask. Messaging strangers who posted about an unrelated topic gets accounts reported, and it does not convert. The public reply is still the default in every thread. The DM is the follow-up when the thread invites it.
How it works
- Monitor. Rankcow watches the subreddits you pick around the clock and flags posts where someone is asking for a recommendation, comparing tools, or describing a problem your product solves.
- Score. Each flagged post gets a buying-intent score. A post that names a budget, a deadline, or the tool being replaced scores high. You work the high scores first.
- Draft the reply and the DM. Rankcow drafts a public reply and, where the post invites it, a direct message. Both are written from what the person actually wrote, in your voice. The DM refers to the specific thread so the recipient knows why you are writing.
- Review and edit. The drafts arrive in your queue with the original post and the score beside them. You edit the wording, approve it, or discard it. Nothing is sent without your approval by default.
- Send from your account within daily caps. Approved messages send from your own Reddit account, connected through the Rankcow Companion browser extension, or through Rankcow's own established accounts if you prefer. Pacing controls space the sends out, and daily caps stop the volume from climbing past what you set.
Safety controls
Before a reply or DM is sent, Rankcow runs the same checks a careful person would run by hand.
- Subreddit rule checks. Rankcow reads each subreddit's rules and flags threads where a vendor reply or a DM is not allowed.
- Karma and account-age gates. Many subreddits require a minimum karma or account age. Rankcow checks your account against those thresholds before you post.
- Pacing. Sends are spaced out rather than fired in a burst, so activity looks like a person working through a queue.
- Daily caps. You set the maximum number of replies and DMs per day. Rankcow does not exceed it.
What it will not do
- It will not send a reply or DM without your approval, unless you switch on Autopilot. Autopilot is an opt-in mode that sends drafts automatically within the same caps and rule checks, and you can turn it off at any time.
- It will not message people who have not asked for suggestions or invited contact.
- It will not send from your own account unless you connected it through the extension. You choose per project whether messages go out from your account or from Rankcow's.

Frequently asked questions
Is automating Reddit DMs against the rules?
Reddit's rules for apps are built around a person acting through their own account with their own consent, and they prohibit unsolicited bulk messaging. Rankcow is built to that shape: it drafts, you approve, and the message sends within daily caps from the account you chose, yours or Rankcow's. You decide what is sent and to whom.
How many DMs a day is safe?
Fewer than you would guess. A handful of specific, relevant messages a day to people who asked for options performs better than dozens of generic ones, and it keeps your account in good standing. Rankcow lets you set the daily cap and paces the sends inside it, so the number stays deliberate.
Can I edit the draft before it sends?
Yes. Every draft sits in the queue as editable text next to the post it was written from. You can change a sentence, rewrite it entirely, or discard it. Only the version you approve is sent, and it is sent from your own Reddit account.
Does it use my Reddit account?
If you want it to. Connect your own account through the Rankcow Companion browser extension, listed on the Chrome Web Store, and messages send from it, so the account and the karma it earns stay yours. Or send through Rankcow's own established accounts and nothing of yours is exposed. You pick per project and can switch at any time.
What does a good Reddit DM look like?
It quotes or refers to the exact thing the person wrote, answers the question they asked, and is short. It names your product once and says why it fits their stated situation. It does not open with a pitch, and it does not go to anyone who did not ask for suggestions.
